4000 feet up the slopes of Maui’s Haleakala crater is the mystical Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm. Here you can find about 55,000 lavender plants, over 40 varieties of lavender, and the most peaceful gardens filled with magical greens that I have ever seen!
My Mamasita and I spent some time strolling through the beautiful gardens, admiring the wild landscape and all of the varieties of plants that thrive in this Mediterranean climate. And of course, the view! How interesting that on the archipelago of Hawaii, you can be driving through a tropical jungle, and later you can find yourself in a cooler, dryer environment filled with citrus trees, succulents, and flowers!
There was an adorable little gift shop at the Ali’i Kula Farm. I couldn’t imagine what they would sell at the gift shop.. other than soap? To my surprise they had so many interesting lavender creations! From soaps and shampoos, to essential oils, to lavender coffee… tea… honey… scones… jams… and more! How amazing! My mom had a lavender coffee, and I went for the lavender tea. They were both wonderful! The lavender coffee was so So so delightful. And of course, we had to try the lavender scone with lavender lilikoi (Hawaiian for passion fruit) jam! We sat outside on the balcony taking in the views of Maui and enjoying every last crumb! The culinary experience is one of my favorite parts of traveling!
If you ever find yourself in Maui, and I truly hope that you do, please take a visit to this little slice of bliss! Scroll down to take a walk with me through the beautiful gardens at Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm!
Nothing makes me happier than plants! Looking at a little plant, and remembering that they are all living, breathing organisms brings a smile to my heart.
